Volunteer Opportunities

Zimele's goal is to build self-reliance in Africa in poverty and HIV/AIDS stricken areas. To do this, we need your support!

INDIVIDUALS – Volunteer Your Time

  • Volunteer using your background in communication, technology, finance, events or many other areas of expertise. Feel free to let us know your volunteer interest: scottkwak@zimelecommunity.org.
  • Help us bring awareness by telling a friend. Word of mouth is our most important source of donor growth and awareness.
  • Sign up for our email updates so we can keep you up to date on our activities.
  • Support one of our fundraising events. Or, start your own fundraising event. We would be more than happy to share with you how you can help hold something like your own bikeathon if you are not geographcially close to one of our partners.
  • Is there an idea that you have in mind that could help us? We are open to hearing your out of the box ideas so please let us know.
  • Corporate matching is a fantastic way to multiply your donation. Most large companies will match your donation if you just contact your HR department and fill out a simple form.
  • Do you have any interest in buying, selling, or distributing crafts products made by the women in our programs? Please talk to us because we need help.
  • Do you have a small group of friends, family, or co-workers who would be interested in supporting a cause such as Zimele? For example, we have a group of guys who were so moved by Zimele that they wanted to support a computer lab in one of the villages we support.

ORGANIZATIONS – Join Our Partnership

Zimele Community of Canada, Zimele – Developing Community Self-Reliance – Developing Community Self-Reliance – Zimele is committed to transforming the physical, economic, and emotional lives of South Africa

Are you an organization who supports efforts such as Zimele or would like to? We are actively seeking partner organizations to help us build self-reliance in Africa. Zimele currently consists of 3 main partner organzations (US/UK/DE) as well as several smaller organzations who support more specific programs. We would be more than happy to discuss how we can partner up to face these enormous challenges.

AMBASSADORS – Visit and See for Yourselves

Zimele Community of Canada, Zimele – Developing Community Self-Reliance – Developing Community Self-Reliance – Zimele is committed to transforming the physical, economic, and emotional lives of South Africa

Our Ambassador Program currently sends a team twice a year to see the devastation first hand and also see the Zimele programs in action. Here are some examples of the activities that we've done in the past:

  • Ran a soccer clinic for children
  • Taught english classes
  • Taught computer classes
  • Taught business classes
  • Provided care to orphans
  • Provided care to people dying of HIV/AIDS
  • Built a toilet for a daycare center started by a CLA

Once teams come back, we continue our relationship with the teams since they are now ambassadors who continue to bring about awareness to the challenges we face.
