Community Mentoring

The goal of the Zimele Mentoring program is partner with small locally based non profits in each of our targeted communities (or CBO's) by teaching them the management and operational tools and skills necessary to successfully implement their programs.

Because these CBOs were started by members of the communities, they are often able to identify the key challenges and issues facing each community. Unfortunately, they often do not have the means or training necessary to address these issues.

While the staff of Zimele might be able to address these problems ourselves. We believe a more effective and sustainable solution is to empower the communities members and existing associations so they can design and implement their own solutions. By doing this we are not only enabling individuals but also the entire community to 'stand on its own two feet'.

Since the projects are designed by the community members themselves, they will clearly be for their benefit. Future projects could include:

  • Education (building schools, funding scholarships
  • Medical (AIDS education clinics, vaccinations, medical clinics)
  • Development of infrastructure (water systems, sewer systems, roads, power lines, etc...)
