People need to be given a chance to get out of poverty. Zimele gives them that chance. This three-minute video highlights some of the dire issues that South Africa is dealing with today, and it explains how Zimele’s Self-Help Groups can empower people to lift themselves out of poverty.

Zimele is an organization that seeks to equip women and communities with the means to help themselves. Self-Help Groups are one of the primary ways that these goals are accomplished.

In May of 2009 4 men and 2 women from Metro Community Church visited Kwazulu Natal South Africa. We went to see and learn about the desperate situation in rural South Africa as well as the work that the Zimele organization is doing to combat the issues of poverty, violence, and AIDS.
After a week and a half of working with Zimele in KwaZulu Natal, we had a little time to relax in Cape Town. So what did we do? We jumped into the Ocean with great white sharks!
