This past week was great. I have over one hundred families stored in my little database for Zimele now. The database was a little bit of a struggle to create. My database experience is limited to a class I took 10 years ago during my undergraduate years (my experience = almost none). Also, the way I usually learn is through the internet, and I didn’t have much access to it. So it was a struggle, but I think the database I created was more or less the way a real database administrator would’ve have made it.
Even with over one hundred families stored in the database, I’ve still got a ways to go. Zimele has 30+ groups and each group has at least 10 people. Each of the 10 people represents a family and in each family, there’s an average of 3 adults and 5 children. In other words, there’s still a lot of data to gather and input. But at the same time, it’s amazing to see how many lives Zimele is touching.
In terms of the library, the bookcases are done and this week, we finally got all of the bookcases and most of the books moved to the library. The library looks really great. I’m excited for the opening. I’m hoping that the library will do wonders in the community.
